The First International Conference of Service Centers in Vilnius, the City of the Future Europe
The first international conference of service centers “Baltic SSC Conference” that will last three days has started in Vilnius, which has developed the strongest cluster of service centers in the Baltic States. In the conference organized in the region for the first time the most important representatives of the sector will exchange ideas and discuss the challenges of the transformation of service centers as well as the future of the sector in the region of the Central and Eastern Europe. Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius congratulated the participants of the conference on selecting Vilnius.
“Currently Vilnius is one of the best places in Europe for the establishment of service centers. The city is young and growing, it is home to many talented and educated people who perfectly meet expectations of international companies. Each year about 1,700 of skilled IT professionals graduate here, more and more young people from other Lithuanian cities or cities around the world come to the capital. We are open and fast, ready to accept new companies, and as much as 70 percent of the population would like to work in an international company. Vilnius currently operates as many as 44 service centers, which are expanding and growing faster than we could imagine. Therefore, I have no doubt that even more international investors will be located in Vilnius”, – says the mayor of Vilnius R. Šimašius.
This year in the Central and Eastern Europe Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards Vilnius has received the first prize and was recognized as the fastest-growing city of service centers in the region. According to the information of “Invest Lithuania”, currently Lithuania operates 50 service centers, which employ about 13 thousand workers. Growing numbers show an ever-increasing interest and willingness of foreign investors to develop business namely in the capital of Lithuania.
In the cozy environment of Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square about 60 representatives of service center sector from 10 countries (Sweden, USA, Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, etc.) have come together to share experiences, discuss the visions in which direction the sector will develop in the coming years and the “SSC’S 4 Strategic Pillars” concept.
“I want to greet all who came to the first international conference of service centers in Lithuania. Vilnius really has something to be proud of because every year it attracts more and more international investors, which are rapidly expanding their activities in the capital of Lithuania. I have no doubt that many more international companies will settle here in the future”, – said Kim Leandersson, CEO of “Tele2 Shared Service Center”.
