Vilnius has been awarded the title of European Capital of Culture 2009 and it has also become a gateway to the country that is celebrating the Millennium anniversary of the first written mention. Culture being a powerful force influences and forms development of a city and prosperity of its citizens. The European Commission has launched the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009. I hope that we can have a creative and fresh look at growing role of culture in a city's development.
